Whole-home bespoke joinery for a private countryside residence

Whitbrow Heights is a whole-home bespoke joinery commission for a private residential client, delivered within a substantial countryside property where cabinetry, panelling, headboards and architectural detailing were developed as an integral part of the home.

Working in close collaboration with Design by UBER, architect NC Architecture and principal contractor Noble Projects, Atelier’s scope extended across the entrance lobby, double-height lounge, principal suite, guest bedrooms and bathrooms, private office, library, basement games room, spa, pool, treatment room, gym and supporting utility spaces. Early involvement allowed our team to coordinate layouts, services, structural details and finishes from the outset, ensuring each element of joinery was fully integrated into the build.

Material consistency was central to the project. Following a sourcing trip to Italy, over fifty individual natural stone slabs were selected for use throughout the home, from the principal fireplace to book-matched bathroom and spa details. These were paired with patinated brass, liquid metal finishes, alabaster, polished plaster and rift-sawn oak veneer produced from a single log, creating continuity of grain and tone across the full residence.

Key pieces include the double-height entrance lobby with bronze-mesh display piers and concealed LED detailing, the sculptural stone fireplace framed by patinated brass wings, a curved principal headboard designed around a restricted structural span, and a treatment room with an aluminium-profiled coffered ceiling carefully considered from the client’s sightline when lying on the massage bed.

Figured pre-dyed eucalyptus was introduced within the guest suites to create a lighter contrast, while the private office was finished in a quieter lacquered palette with a generous portal-door detail suited to the room’s more restrained character.

Every metal finish across the project was hand-patinated in-house, with bespoke handles, trims and accents developed to create one consistent material language throughout the property.

Whitbrow Heights stands as one of Atelier’s most comprehensive residential commissions to date: a project defined by craftsmanship, coordination and exacting consistency of detail across every room of the home.
